Preparation for EGD

  •  No alcohol starting 3 days before your procedure
  •  NO Solid Foods after 8 pm the night before procedure
  •  Nothing to eat or drink after midnight

You may have sips of clear liquids if needed up to 3 hrs before your procedure


A friend or family member must drive you to your procedure, and drive you home after. You can not take

public transporation. Please remember to bring the cell phone number of your driver in with you to your

procedure.


Medications: ONLY blood pressure or heart medications my be takien the day of your procedure with a small

sip of water. Otherwise, take the rest of your medications after your procedure is complete

 TWO (2) WEEKS BEFORE PROCEDURE: If you are taking Coumadin/Plavix/Pradaxa/Warfarin/Xarelto or any

blood thinner (other than aspirin) contact your prescribing doctor or our office for any special/holding

instructions.


Anesthesia: In the weeks leading up to your procedure you will receive a call from the Anesthesia Nurse at

the Surgery Center to complete your pre-procedure interview. You MUST answer or return this call. If the

pre-procedure interview is not done, an assessment will be done when you arrive for your procedure. If the

Anesthesiologist has any concerns, this does not allow for any time to address them and your procedure could be

canceled. (Applies to sedated procedure ONLY)


Cancellation: Cancellation can only be done by our office. Not by the Surgery Center or the Anesthesia

Nurses. Please notify us by phone or patient portal as soon as possible if you need to cancel your

appointment. Keep in mind that these procedures require the coordination of several teams (Doctor, Facility,

Anesthesia, your insurance co/precertification), therefore, cancellation/rescheduling should be kept to a

minimum with as much advance notice as possible given. Procedures cancelled in less than 72 hrs. (3 Days)

before appointment, may be subject to a $75.00 fee.


Billing/Insurance Referrals: Our billing office can be reached at 302-456-5725, for any billing questions you may

have. If your managed care plan requires a referral for specialists or procedures, please contact your PCP ASAP to

request a referral. If a required referral is not received by our office in advance of your procedure, your insurance

company may not pay and you will be financially responsible for payment.
