Sigmoidoscopy Prep

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.


Your preparation consists of two (2) fleet enemas. One administered two (2) hours before the scheduled procedure time, and the second approximately one (1) hour prior to the scheduled procedure time. The preparation is to be done at home.

Medications: If you are taking medication that is a blood thinner such as COUMADIN, PRADAXA, or PLAVIX, we request that you contact our office immediately for further instructions. Avoid aspirin or similar drugs for at least 7 days prior to the procedure. Tylenol or Datril is allowed. Do not take any medication containing iron or iron supplements for at least 4 days prior to the procedure. Otherwise, all medications may be taken as directed unless otherwise stated by our office.


Cancellations: We request, should the need arise that you must cancel your procedure; you contact our office at 302-832-1545 no less than 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Failure to notify the office will result in a cancellation fee of $25.00. This money will be donated to the American Cancer Society.


Amerihealth & Keystone Healthcare Patients: Your written referral must be in the GLASGOW OFFICE no less than 72 hours prior to the scheduled procedure date. If your referral is not received in the specified time, your appointment will be cancelled. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Billing Referral Office at 302-832-3755.
